i just noticed some new orange polyps on the edge of my pokerstar monti. i have read that their polyps start out orange then turn green as they age. anyone experience this?? so i guess it may be a sign of good growth.

I thought that pokerstar montis always had green polyps even with new growth and rainbow monti new growth polyps were orange and then slowly turned green.

yeah, thats kinda why i started looking more into it. i thought it was weird that a few orange polyps came out on a frag that was completely covered with green polyps.

It sounds like you may have a rainbow monti, which is cool too. A pokerstar's polyps develop and stay green while a rainbow's polyps will start off red and slowly turn green as it grows.

id +1 on the rainbow monti. I'm gonna get a sunset in a couple weeks and I'm pretty pumped. Grats on the healthy piece!

Do remember that all that name represents is a color morph. So IMO, anything with red/orange polyps that turn green with a blue base is a rainbow, and any green polyp with a blue base is a poker star monti.
