    Hey,

I got an orange mushroom bud the other day (actinodiscus sp) from a friend. It was half the size of a dime. It came off the rock yesterday and got put through the impeller of my filter. I saw it floating around the tank today looking beat up. I shoved it back inside a hole in another rock. Is this coral done for or do u think it will re grow? How resilient are they?

It has a good chance IMO

1 method for fragging coralimorphs was to cut them into pieces and then fine mesh net the pieces to live rock rubble, and many people would quarter the shroom and get 4 perfect mini replicas

rather than shove it in a hole

add some rock rubble to a plastic sandwhich box place the shroom on this
and put that in an area of low flow (the plastic box protects it from being blown behind the reef by water movement)

It fell down into the hole and I can't get to it. Will it grow toward the light?

I would retrieve it and then follow Steves suggestion to get it to attach to rubble rock, then you can place it pretty much where you want.Try a pair of forceps to get it out.

Forceps didn't work, I hope it will grow outward toward the light.

Agreed....it probably will not get much light for a while until the mushroom starts to grow up toward the light. I suggest getting it out. If you do not it has a decent chance of getting killed :(

Can you remove the rock and shake it upside down in a bucket of tank water to get it out?Just a thought.

Won't budge lol. Its like it had a near death experience and now its clinging for life. It has moved closer to the surface. Is this possible. Do mushrooms move?

Yes, they can move. Try sucking it up with a turkey baster.
