I recently placed an order from live aquarias divers den and today I recived my order. One of the corals I ordered looks pretty good but this ones color is pretty far off. is it possible that it will color up after a little while? My only thought is that it turned a different color due to the shipping but I dont know if that can happen or not

Don't worry. They stand by their product. I had some fish and shrimp that died and they credited me, even the overnight shipping.

In my experience it will take several days or weeks for your coral to recover. Also beware because most of the online coral vendors will photoshop pictures to make them look better. A huge pet peave of mine.

The other one should color up, it is not uncommon for the coral to brown from stress.

thanks for the replies. I know that alot of places probably do edit the colors and stuff on their pictures but I just figured since I have never heard any negative feedback from people shopping at the divers den, that I could trust thier picture

Not the case with Divers Den.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Your tank lighting can make the color of the corals look dramatically different as well. I am pretty sure if you put that under a LED fixture it would appear more blue.

I do agree though that shipped corals will loose some color in transit. I also agree that the images from vendors can look very different than the actual coloration of the corals.

Also realize corals will always look different between two different tanks with different lighting. Many "blue" corals look blue in photos due to their being lots of actinics or 20k MH.

many factors can influence the colour of a coral tatooed soul
the lighting it was under when photographed could give it a totally different appearance than the lighting in your system

also the settings on the camera can make a difference the live aquaria image seems to have blue highlighted which gives the eeiry glow on the tips in that image

by increasing the amount of light in the blue spectrum, you can also achieve this in your tank

good to see you have it on the sand bed temporarily as I also like to gradually increase the height I place new SPS corals over the course of a week, to allow them to adjust to my lighting

I have not had any coral suffer as a result of this
but have had a couple of cases of RTN and brown outs early days due to placing them to high to quickly

the good news is the coral is not bothered what colour it is, even brown corals extend polyps and grow
but IMHO, it will not stay brown forever

with these complicated branch species , if you find the tips are very colourful, but lower down they stay brown, look at increasing flow around it

reason being the intricate branchwork means water flow throughout the coral is compromised and as such detrius can get trapped causing pockets of higher nutrient water in the coral, thus additional zooxanthellia populate the coral to utilise these localised nutrient peaks
