    Hey guys,

So I've decided to purchase from live aquaria. A few dartfish, maybe some LPS. Thing is, I don't have the time or the money to set up a qt tank. I know this is a huge gamble, but I will try to do everything I can including dipping the corals and really inspecting each fish before it get into the tank... Has none else pulled it off?

I've never owned a QT, only a hospital tank for when it did hit the fan. You should be fine, LA has a good reputation for the health of their specimens,

There are lots of people who don't run a QT. Ordering from LA is a great choice, only place I've ever ordered fish online from. I'd just make sure the acclimate them correctly and keep a close eye on them.

I was completely in the same boat as you, and gambled by adding fish from an extremely reputable LFS that quarantines their fish for at least a month before selling them directly to my DT rather than quarantine. I didn't want to spend the money and go through a long process of cycling a QT tank - and I felt I would be ok due to the LFS's long quarantine policy.

Within 2 days all of the fish in my tank had Brooklynella. All of them but one eventually died despite setting up a hospital tank, soaking food in selcon and garlic, using formalin etc. Because the new tank wasn't cycled - I'm convinced that this is what actually killed them - the combination of being stressed from the Brooklynella and being dumped into a non-cycled tank.

So from now on I am QT my fish, and when it's not running as a QT tank, I have the filter hanging on the back of my DT so I can instantly cycle a hospital tank should the need arise.

So this is a long way of saying, I would Quarantine your fish. Lost a lot more money than I would have spent with a simple QT tank, and it was very sad and irresponsible to have all of those fish die under my watch.

    Just my 2 cents.
