Did a search on 3reef for

    Oxidative redox potential and ORP

No hits for either. I want to find out what this is and how it applies to me. Does anyone know of a thread on this topic already at 3reef?

ORP relates to the dissolved organics in your tank. Ideally they should be in the high 300's to 400. I keep my tank at 390 so if it drops then the O3 generator kicks on until it is back to 390. My ORP stayed good until the tank was about 14 months old then i noticed that it started to drop so I started the O3. You need to test for this (with a calibrated probe) to see if you need to generate O3.

You will hear all kinds of horror stories about ozone, take it all with a grain of salt.
