The new Maxspect Mazzara's look really good, use both the Cree XM-L and Edison Rebel ES diodes, which I understand to be pretty well the best LEDs available at the moment, as well ad Bridgelux, which are a middle of the road LED. I ordered a three module setup for my 90 gallon so I'll give them a test. You only get four modules for 2000$ though, for the same lighting from AI you'll likely pay in the same price range, not sure about Orphek.

Comparing the Mazarra and the PR-156 is like apples and oranges. I say this because of the Mazarra's controllability and versatility. A fair comparison would be 2 Mazarras without a controller vs 1 PR-156. I'd put my money on the Mazarras to outperform the PR 156 but we really won't know unless the two are tested by an independent tester.

In the past few years, PFO, Maxspect, Acan Lighting, Blue Moon Aquatics, Ecoxotic, and Aqua Illuminations have all been willing to make their units available for testing and comparison. In that testing the AI was the leader of the pack. The Mazarra may have upped the ante though as it should leapfrog the Aqua Illumination's performance standards due to increased efficiency in it's choice of White LEDs.

What are your opinions on Bridgelux LEDs...specifically the 10K white 3W's and the 454nm Blue 3W's? I am looking into these for a DIY fixture.

I don't see a problem with them. Bridgelux is a reputable LED manufacturer. There are a ton of worse led's out there. However if you are going DIY, why not cree? Is the price difference that different. I have not researched tthe price of individual diodes so forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question.

Sorry, I quoted the wrong reply. You mentioned that alot of manufacturers like Aqua Illuminations and Acan Lighting have made units available for testing, I was wondering if there is a page that collects all the tests done?

For the same amount of LEDs, Bridgelux vs. CREE is roughly $300 difference in favor of Bridgelux. I've read a lot of people's reviews on Bridgelux and most say good things. I have experience with CREE, but I am trying to go away from the "yellow" that their 6500K produces. The Bridgelux claim 10K, less yellow.
