    I have a 40 gallon reef tank. I have a 20 gallon refugium underneath.
Should I have other filtration? I have a magnum 350 canister filter someone gave me. Maybe a simple hang on?

Don't have fish yet just live rock and some pollyps, turbo snails and 2 crabs. Been running a month now and water is testing good. Seems to me the water just dosent look clean enough.

Haven't added a protien skimmer yet.

Any help would be great. From Michigan if anyone knows of any clubs or swaps here would be cool too.;D

My filtration consists of live rock, skimmer, poly filter in between the first baffles in the sump( a lot of people use filter socks instead), A bag of carbon floating in the second baffle, and a media reactor with GFO.
