I had ordered a Berlin Sump BS-2, 30x14x16 that arrived with a crack on one of the narrow ends, from the top center down to about the middle of the sump. My replacement should be here tomorrow or the next day, but the vendor told me to hold onto the broken one for about 8 days, and if UPS didn't pick it up by then do with it what I wanted.

If they don't pick it up, I am thinking about drilling a small hole to stop the crack from spreading and looking for some weld-on to fix the crack. After that I am not sure what I want to do with it, any ideas?

Well, it looks like I'm now finding storage for 2 sumps waiting to see if UPS will come pick them up. The replacement showed up today and it also has a crack. The vendor doesn't want to send a 3rd, and I don't blame them, so a refund is coming my way. A little irritating, but I guess I'm off to Salt Lake City this weekend to see if I can find one to pick up at a LFS.

BTW, the customer service at Marine Depot so far seems to be fantastic through all of this.

I would get some Weldon 16 and fix the cracks, let it sit for a few days and then water test them. Make your decision from there.

There isn't any room in the cracks to put anything thick in between, I don't think I would have much luck trying to separate them to open it up further. Would Weldon 3 be a better choice? Would it be as strong?
