Right behind were the 2x4 sits is a 6 valve manifold I run off a HammerHead (red gate valves) and use one of them to run the skimmer. I may end up moving it now that I have expanded into the bathroom for my fish room. Was starting to run out of space quickly and getting too cluttered.
I only run two external pumps for the hole system and the only pump I have in water is the mixer in my kalk reactor and it only runs twice a day for 1.5 hrs each.

Ok, I'm tracking now. Where does the water for the skimmer come from? Straight from the display? Or the the sump?

It comes from the 2 1" bulkheads right underneath it in the sump. All my sump consist of is water from the OF then across about 150 lbs of LR then to the manifold to feed skimmer, Ca reactor, fluidized sand filter, carbon reactor, PO4 reactor and chiller then to the display tank.

No not yet, been helping other fellow reefers too much here lately... ;D Sounds like you. ;)

Been thinking about where I am going to put it and if I am going to rely on siphon to feed it or run a line off my reactor manifold. Which is better???

I pretty much followed your lead and have all my stuff off of the Old Dolphin and the manifold and this is the first time I ever fed the coils via a tap from a pump rather then a siphon I honestly think the siphon is better in that I simple can put a tight mess media bag over the J tube behind the overflow and pre filter out the chunks of food or poo and I never had one to stop up , This one has stopped up once , Last Dec when I first was laid up and just home from the hospital Amcarrig charged the Kalk Reactor and I guess the timer was out of sequence ? But it blasted about 3 cups of raw hydrated lime sludge into the system Ph 10.7 and white white fog everywhere it plugged the coil and the Ca reactor also . I have a 1/4 tee off of the manifold to feed them both . And when I was able to get to the basement for the first time since Dec 14th it was late April early may ? I cleared the coil and Ca reactor . Just took a air pump and popped it wide open and flow was perfect. The tubing to the Ca reactor was so clogged up I just ran a fast temporary feed line to that and got back up the stairs while I could LOL I like the siphon better and may get back to it when I can and take it off the pump pressure feeding..

Oh Scott if you set it outside the sump ? get a 3 in closet flange to set it in makes a great base for them..

Sounds like a plan, may get it hooked up this weekend before we head off to Harley's 105th party in Milwaukee at the end of the month.
