Hi Scott! That's a beautiful urchin! I can understand how you couldn't resist buying it :) When my 75g tank was set up in Michigan, I had a sea urchin and really loved it. It ate coraline algae like crazy but the coraline came back quickly so it was no big deal. They really clean the rock well! My urchin wouldn't move across the sand.....he'd only move on the rock so was easy to keep him in one area. Really nice addition to your tank! Kas

good pick on the blue tuxedo urchin otty I had one in my 58g forever and a day till the big ice storm here last year he didn't handle the 30 degree drop in temp on the tank to well but him and my queen conch were the only losses so I cant complain to much, the only issue I ever had with mine was if I put in any frags he had a tendency to pick them up and use them for decorations on his back but he never tried to eat any corals that I noticed

Truly awesome tank Otty. I enjoyed reading this thread and really learned alot. I do have a couple questions about this particular post (I'm a newbie). Why is it preferrable for your frag tank lights to come on after your display tanks's lights?
What were you dipping the traded corals in every 2 weeks? +1 for all the info in this thread...

I turned the lights on after the display so the temp in the fish room does not get too high. I dip the corals every two weeks in iodine to make sure they have no bugs on them. All the corals made it fine and are doing great.;D

I love peninsula set-ups. My next tank is going to be that way. However, that's gotta suck cleaning coralline off of three sides. I only clean it from one side now(front only).
