I really don't care too much if they color up that much. That's the reason I didn't switch out the bulb. Right now the main concern is maximizing growth. Once they are moved to the 125, they will get bluer lighting and will color up there.

Years ago I used to sell a whole lot of frags. I would use LR rubble, clam shells, dead SPS skeletons and such and put easy growers like zoanthids on them. When they spread, it looks really neat. One of my favorites was flowerpot skeletons. I would glue 2 or 3 different colors of zoanthids on one and throw it back in the tank and let it grow in. Those always sold the same day I made them available.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Makes sense, I just do not see too many JBJ HQI with a lot of sps frags and I want to know or get an idea of if trying to keep them under 150w is sufficient. It would be nice to have another point of reference to compare with.

So do you have a plan on what this tank will become, or will it become a QT for your corals, with some cool little fish?

    TIA

Hard to say. Right now it's just QT. This is my second 28g JBJ. I grew SPS quite fine in the first one so after I'm done restocking the 125, I'll likely set this up as a nano. I have another 19g custom tank with MH that can be set up as a QT tank for the big tank if need be. In fact, there's tanks galore. Off the top of my head, 2 40g breeders, 2 14g biocubes, 29g biocube, another 28g JBJ that just needs the back glass replaced, sumps and lights galore. Anytime I decide to stop using this as a QT, there's certainly options. LOL

one issue we are having right now is an outbreak of bryopsis. I think we got it from on of the frags we got a while back (before the big tank broke). Well it is now thriving in our 28g tank (lots of feeds, corals etc) fortunatley it is only on the glass rigth now, and a few rocks. However I had purchased a lettuce nudibrach a while ago in hopes of trying to keep it down in my big tank (the LFS in this area are infested with this stuff).

HE DOES REALLY EAT BRYOPSIS! He is doing a great job on chowing down on it. We cant find anymore in the area so we have just ordered several more to put in the tank. We are also going to raise the mg up with kent mg in hopes this helps.........

but if anybody has bryopsis, get a lettuce nudibranch!
