hahahaha patience the hardest part of this hobby
and congrats on getting the wife onboard ...that's half the battle and i say that as the wife that got on board and now probably is more willing to juggle the bills for a reef need than the husband now
BTW .......husband likes your overflow set up

haha good times! yeah the overflow is just a colaboration of ideas that I put together. durso style standpipe and We siliconed a pc of 1/4" thick acrylic into the corner of the tank, and I cut some teeth into the top of it. to my surprise it is completely silent! only thing we can really hear is the skimmer running:)

I know you're not crazy about the brown, but your tank looks so nice!

haha,I got a 65g looking the same way right now myself, just a big brown ugly mess, but I love it,lets you know the tank is well underway and the diatoms are generally short lived once they consume the silicates up.Great looking start and welcome to 3reef.

Heck yeah!! Meanwhile I'm trying to devise an auto-topoff plan. I found the setup online that I want. I just can't come up with a container and what not. Under the stand is basically full! And I'm not a big fan of having random stuff sitting around everywhere if you know what I mean....

so the cycle is almost 4 weeks in. Ran the Marathon in st. louis on Sunday, so we stopped in at seascape studios on the way home and picked up a small CUC. some astrea's and red leg hermits and a margarita snail. then the dude talked my wife into buying a cardinalfish. half price because the cards are in the NLCS. got everything home and acclimated. to my surprise the fish is okay and eating already. I did a 5g water change today with RO water that I mixed up lastnight. ran a small heater and a powerhead in the container to get things right! so far so good!
