everything still seems to be going good so far! I am noticing some hair algae pop up tho. my snails/hermits dont seem to mess with it so its getting pretty long. any suggestions? The tank is just over 4 weeks old so I realize I will go through some algae stages. We use ro/di water, and im looking at ordering the bulk reef supply GFO/carbon reactor to run on my setup. for now im feeding the cardinal fish very sparingly. skimmer is pulling waste out.....nitrates are at almost zero, Havent tested for phosphates yet tho...

Hair algae is very common for new tanks as I believe you know. I manually remove it when it gets too bad. Otherwise, it just needs to run its course. Obviously keep extra nutrients low (don't overfeed) and keep up with water changes and it will go away on its own.

cool deal! I just didnt want to make it spread with my removal attempts. Im guessing just pull the excess off of the rocks rather than do any brushing/scrubbing?

So we have had the cardinalfish in for two weeks and he seems to be doing really well! I have noticed that the cleaning crew I added has taken care of all of the diatom bloom and the small green algae has dissapeared from the rockwork and sandbed!. still have some small patches of hair algae popping up randomly, but im trying to remove it as soon as I see a new bit show up. this weekends goal is to introduce a pair of clownfish to the system! Ive been trying to make a decision on adding A GFO & Carbon reactor. still trying to research and decide.....
