not the best picture.....just dipped and acclimated the coral.....but just got this piece today at my LFS. I honestly can not remember the name of it but it was at the store when the tank was down. I wanted it so bad, and the day I was able to get it, somebody bought it that day. I was so bummed.....well yesterday was at the LFS when a maintanence guy came in and had this coral, the guy who bought it did not have enough room for it so I got it!

Worked out for the best because I would have probably lost it when the heater caught on fire!

the coloring is not the best right now, but under our bulbs it will improve. It is a bright blue with green coloration and blue eyes

Looks like a merlina or pavona. Possibly lithophylon(sp)

that is dead on...it is a lithophylon it is kind of a cross between a fungia and chalice! The piece is bigger then my fist!

thanks! it was driving me insane trying to remember what it was

i will try to get a better pic today when the lights come back on. Like I said it has faded out somewhat since the other guy had it, hoping to color it back up....getting ready to replace all of our bulbs on our tank (4 250mh and 8 actinics)

Not a chalice but priced similarly. When I got this piece in, I called the supplier and said, "Ummm, did you see how little you charged me for this piece?" He said, "Yeah, I'm trying to encourage you to order from us more". I was happy to say the least.

Mel came in and she spied that puppy immediately. However, as she stated, her tank wasn't ready for it yet. I knew she wanted it but the day I sold it, that customer had already bought $1800 worth of coral. He asked me what the most rare thing in the store was, and I pointed to this Lithophyllon and he bought it too. She never said anything but I'm sure she wanted to kill me. LOL

However, things worked out and it came back to it's rightful owner.

I fed it some Oyster-Feast and Coral Frenzy last night so it's healthy....just needs to color back up.

Wow! Even though I can see the picture, I would love to see one with a little more light! Can't wait to see what it looks like when it colors back to health.

    Congrats on the add.

BTW.. how much does a frag of this can cost?

You don't see these often. I special ordered it from the wholesaler. If it wouldn't have sold, I would have chopped it up with a lapidary saw into 3/4 inch pieces. I would probably would have sold them (retail) at $40/frag.

I knew that any piece I was interested in, rightfully customers got first dabs to! I was so very excited when I saw it come back into the store!

I have been trying to find info on it on the web and there is very little availble
