Well I ran it in the vinegar solution for 30 minutes (which got rid of a load of crap...it surprised me), and ran it in 3 different fresh water baths for 45 total minutes (kept dumping the old icky water, and adding fresh water to run through. Yay sinks) and now it's back in the setup. The Goby is really skittish, but I've heard they're like that for the first few days. We keep seeing his little yellow bug eyed face looking at us from the rocks. And mr shrimp is probably the best sand sifter ever. We don't get a lot of glimpses of him, but we sure see his aftermath in the morning. Tunnels going everywhere now. Thank GOD I anchored the live rock down onto the glass and epoxied it into 3 total sections. Mr. Bulldozer would have KO'ed himself by now *Mortal Combat Theme*

    Checking out a Nassarius snail...

Returning the Nassarius snail after he kidnapped it and carried it into his den!!! It was during feeding time, and my mom and I were watching him, then he just goes over, picks up the snail, and takes it inside his hole. It was a "Did he just do that?!" moments and my mom was laughing her head off. Then, he decided he couldn't eat it, so he brought it back out and just dropped it. Crazy guy.

So seriously, any further advice to get rid of this hair algae? Turbo snails?

hair algae isn't too bad to get rid of, start with limiting the food you put into the tank. I only feed 1 every other day. Most new tanks will go through an algae phase, keep an eye on the phosphates, if needed, you can add some ferric oxide to your sump or filter area. Also, make sure your lights aren't on too long, 12hrs. for the actinic and 8 for the daylight give or take an hour

The algae's been slowly dying off. Could the dying algae actually be decomposing thus fueling the remaining algae? Just speculating. bleah. The tank hasn't even hit 4 weeks old yet so that could just be the problem.

Went to the awesome LFS again today. We were tempted to buy another two or three pounds of LR because it was on sale for 6 bucks. But, the sale continues through Christmas so later. However, we did return home with:

-6 Line Wrasse (aka Mr. Zippy because he zips all over the place and is ADHD)
The six line was probably the easiest fish I've ever seen introduced to a new tank ever. Acclimated him for 45 minutes, put him in the tank, and within 2 minutes he was exploring. Within ten minutes the clowns had gotten used to him (they've never had to share the tank before...bless them), and visa versa. Within 15 minutes of acclimation, he was king of the rock work. Zipping through every hole, as well as holes I didn't know we had. And he's hyper. Within 30 minutes, it was feeding time, and he ate like a pig as soon as the flakes went in. We didn't expect him to, but it was fantastic. Easiest intro to a new tank ever.

We also got a cleaner shrimp. Not sure how long he's going to be in there. During his exploration, he went into the Pistol Shrimp's hole. We heard the shrimp "pistol" and cleaner shrimp goes zipping across to the other side of the tank to escape. I'm not sure if this was a defense/surprised attack, or he wants him as food. I'm hoping for the former. The guy is still alive now since I got home, so it might work out.

-And we got a free coral from the "ten dollar rack". We got a dull colored zoanthid colony of about 5 or so "buttons" or heads. They're doing great by the looks of it, and were free. Our first coral!

Anyone know where/how six lines sleep? I got home at 12 tonight, and he's no where to be found. In the sand? I think that's where wrasses sleep...but I'm not sure. Oh and we'll be adding some frozen brine shrimp for the little guy every now and then to keep him healthy. The clowns could care less about the stuff...they'll live off of the flakes for all they care.

I'll get pics up faster than ASAP. Tomorrow sometime.

I wouldnt worry about the pistol shrimp eating the cleaner shrimp...I know that youtube video shows one eating a cleaner but i have a huge pistol shrimp
that only snaps his claw in defense when anyone get close to his burrow...just give him a big piece of krill once a week and he wont bother a thing...did you get a yellow watchman goby with the pistol? I just got a yellow watchman but he hasn't introduced himself to my shrimp yet::)::)::)

Ok I'm thinking it was a self defense thing because the cleaner did try to go into the burrow he was in. No conflict sense then, though. The pistol was paired with a Hi Fin Red Banded Goby...but that Goby has been MIA for almost a week now for some reason. I came home, and the rock he was under was filled with sand, so I thought he got burried under the shrimp's digging. But, I had seen him dive into the sand at the LFS when the employee was trying to grab him, so I thought he could dig himself out. 4 days into him being MIA I ended up searching for him, sifthing the sand under the rock he was "buried" in, and no goby. We're giving him maybe 2 more weeks to show himself again, and then we're probably going to buy a watchman. Maybe after xmas? Then maybe a royal gramma or some other fish, and topping it off with a coral beauty. Then, it's off to the wonderful world of corals and fragging :D
