Not really. People seem to make it sound like it's a pain having to target feed them, but it's not at all. Just a turkey baster of mysis after dark every other day. Flip the switch to turn those two powerheads near it off, keep the blenny and shrimp away, and give all the heads some mysis. It's really simple IMO. I'd love for the coral to start opening around day-time feeding time. :)

Mine open anytime the tank gets fed. Took me a week or two to get it used to that though....it would usually start to open about 15-20 minutes after I fed the tank, so that is when I would target feed it. Now it seems to do it every time. Also, I cut the top off a small soda bottle, glued some rocks on it for weight, and use that when I target feed to keep my cleaner shrimp away from it.

    Thanks, Peredhil!

I wish it would open in the daytime during feeding time, but no such luck yet! Last night was the most open I had seen it - I had put some Cyclop-
Eeze in the tank at lights out.

I like the bottle idea - we had to do something similar to our brain coral. I have a big peppermint shrimp and cleaner shrimp - they terrorize whatever gets target fed (dendro, duncan, sun coral, brain). I try to target feed when the fish are fed, which distracts them a little bit. Then, I beat them off with the tongs! ;D

Ive been concidering getting sun coral myself and was talkin to some fish store guys yesterday about it , they said if you set up a slow drip of phyto you can get your sun corals to stay open all the time I was thinkin of settin somthin like that up.
maybe lace a very small tubing line through the rocks with the opening upcurrent

Hmmm.....interesting idea! I have noticed that the sun corals are coming out immediately at lights out, and even peeking out when just the actinics are on.
