While I was doing some other stuff with the tank today all of a sudden the output hose blew off the pump output in the sump tank. So, I slid it back on and a short while later it did it again. So I decided some hose clamps were in order. Was hoping for some plastic clamps of some sort but the local hardware only had the standard stainless steel automotive ones. Because they are stainless will they hold up ok under salt water?

What kind of hose are you using? A lot of the stainless hose clamps are are not of high quality. Test them against a magnet. High grade stainless is not magnetic. Often the worm gear is just Chrome or even zinc plated. Some other options are a larger hose barb and cable ties. If you are using vinyl tubing you can expanded it in a pot of hot water and press it over barbs much larger.

^^^+1 You don't really want to use metal hose clamps in a sump. Sometimes you can get plastic ones. Otherwise, usually zip ties work, or go one hose size small, boil some water, stick the end in for a bit and slide it on. Once it cools, it will be very tight.

Another option would be to find a better hardware store! If you have a small family owned independent store, they usually specialize in "slow selling" hard to find goods the big box stores won't carry because of the limited profit margin.

Stainless works, but not under water. All metal will rust in salt water. Stainless just takes longer. The stainless hose clamps we often use are to be used above the water line. As the posters correctly say above; stick your clear tubing into boiling water, slide onto the hose barbs, and allow to cool. You can then choke it down hard with plastic ty-wrap to prevent the blowout you speak of.
