Sounds like it's worth a try. I wish there was some way to measure the co2 in the air.

I did the water in the cup test measuring the PH in the room and then putting the cup out the window and after a couple minutes measure it then. Sure enough it's the air in my apartment. I hope any of this info I posted and ideas benefits this thread.

I have heard of this a few times. I know stability is key so I was thinking about doing this but my only access to outside air is through the attic an it's hot in Fl so I never did it. Those that have it seem to have a more stable PH. My house stays closed up most of the summer. Aside from the occasional opening of the door going in and out. I don't measure my PH often but I am sure it swings.

This has me thinking about pH also. I think I'll start with the water cup test.

Here's my latest update with my experiments. So instead of me attempting to seal off the top of the tank to keep the gas exchange to a minimum. I instead decided to change the angle of my powerheads to try and keep the surface water agitation to a minimum. To my surprise my PH stopped dipping down too low at night and seems like the skimmer line being outside is working out well.
