over flow box !!!!!

OK i need help with keeping the siphon going in my tank how do i start it and get it to stay siphoned does the inside box need to be lower then the outside or what do i have to do.

 

What type of overflow?
General
Stick air hose up in the tube and suck out air, this gets it started
The water level inside the tank over flow needs to be kept higher the the water level in the outside box

 

Hay I use a powerhead to start mine but if you can do that is going to depend on what type of box you have

 

your sump/fuge/wet/dry need to be up to the according level, the overflow should be at the right level to avoid the pump running dry, the siphon tube needs to be submerse in both sides of the overflow box to create a continuous suction effect. it can be started like it was mention above with the air line through the U tube with the other end of the air line toward the back of the U tube or back of the overflow, once you get it started, you can start the return pump, there is several ways to do it, but that way has work best for me, in case that was a power failure the water won't over flow the sump and make you an unwanted mess

 

I feel so stupid i would suck on the end with my mouth and try to put it in the water really fast.....
