I left instructions for someone to care for my tank and they dosed today after I already dosed this morning. I did 12 mL (enough for 100 gallons) at 10:30 and then they accidentally dosed another 12 mL today at 5:00. So the tank received a double dose. Any ideas how serious this is? I'm out of town and can't do anything about it.

Depends on your current nitrate and phosphate levels, and if you run GFO. Worst case scenario, your tank will just be cloudy and the corals might be a little upset at the sudden super reduction.

I've spoken with a Red Sea rep who swears by this stuff and he says if it gets cloudy do a water change, if not, it's nothing to worry about.

NO3 and PO4 are 15 and 0.64 ppm, respectively. They are on the way down. There is no GFO. Supposedly the fish are ok, and the water isn't cloudy. Since the overdose wasn't huge and since it was spaced 7-8 hours after the first dose, I think the impact will be minimal. We'll see. And I thought I just got my tank stable!

Seriously doubt a one timer like that will make any difference.

Someone checked on the tank today and all seems ok. All fish are happy. All corals are open. Phew!

I guess we know there is some forgiveness in the dose. I have read about cases where people have done 4x doses with disastrous results. In many cases, doser errors were to blame.

I don't think you will have any problems just tell your house keeper to keep an eye on your skimmer it might freak out a little. How long until you come back home?

I'll be back today. I think things are probably fine.

Yep, checked in today and everything looks great. On a whim, I measured out the tank, which I was told was a 90 gallon (by my cousin, who gave it to me). It turns out my total tank volume is probably more like 70 gallons (accounting for sump and rock). That means my dosing is a little high, as well. I'll cut back based on the actual measured water volume.
