Has anybody ever bought anything from aqua traders.com? I was looking at the 1200 gph overflow box and the odyssea 1000 return pump. I am on a low budget for a 125 gallon setup. I have the lighting and a skimmer. Now I need the overflow and return pump at a reasonable price. I am also considering drilling my tank with the overflow kit from txholey rocks.com Suggestions anybody? Thanks!

Well a drilled tank has alot less of a chance to come home to water in the floor. Have you checked out glass holes. com. Also before you drill anything make sure you're not drilling tempered glass.

The bottom of my tank is tempered but the sides (where I plan to drill) are not. I am just worried about the whole drilling process. Most of the local shops will not drill tanks. Even my lfs has said they would be wary of it.

there are plenty of threads on here for glass drilling. Here's a good video to watch. I was nervous before i drilled mine, but if you go slow and dont put pressure on the drill its a piece of cake.
I didnt by the jig as i made my own out of a piece of plywood as a guide to get the hole started to prevent the cutting bit from walking around.

Is there a website that mentions which tanks are generally tempered glass? I have a 55 and I wanted to drill it at some point, but not knowing kind of stopped me on my tracks!

Drill it. Do the bottom edge of the side glass as the very bottom glass in most aquariums is tempered.

If you are going to go with a HOB overflow, I wouldn't skimp on it. Get a good one from Eshopps and you will sleep much better.

Do not get that pump from them!!!

I purchased one about a year ago and it's so loud I can't even run it. It sounds like a jack hammer!

If I drill the bottom edge wouldnt I need one of the overflow screens that extend from the bottom to the top of the tank instead of just an overflow box? I would be willing to put one of these in but I dont know where to get one. I see some of the newer tanks with these overflow screens.

Yup, you would only needs that piece of plastic/glass. I still have no idea where to get the overflow, but I know that's what you need if you drill.
