I have a proclear 150 wet/dry sump. I want to T off my overflow with a ball valve to feed a 10g tank refug. I want gravity to let it flow back into the sump return chamber that holds the return pump. I know I could do this with an overflow box but that seems expensive. Maybe there are smaller cheaper overflow boxes out there I haven't seen. What do you'all think the best way for me to flow out of the 10g refug into the sump?

I have the same wet/dry and also have spent many many hours trying to figure out how to do this safely without an overflow box. I never figured it out so I turned my proclear into a ghetto fuge until I get my real fuge built with a 29gal tank. Here's a pic of what I did.

I took a baking dish and set it in the flat part of the sump and put sand and cheato in it. I don't like how the skimmer is on that side but that was the only way it would work.

Your skimmer looks different than mine. What is the skimmer body attached to on the bottom - is that a powered skimmer you bought separately or the one that came with the sump?

I had the same skimmer on my 45g tank. Great little work-horse.

Drewspuppet- Look at the pics and the video, maybe they will give you some ideas.

This is what I used to have.....

When I wanted a refug, I added it this way, using gravity.

Thanks for the video awesome thanks that's exactly what I'm going to do. I bought a 5.5 gal glass tank and I am going to do exactly the same thing I am going to drill the tank and just do pvc plumbing back the the sump return chamber.

I really wanted to do something like that but was and still am nervous about glass drilling, not to mention I can't find the right sized bits at lowes to do it.

I never thought about using a rubbermaid bin as the whole fuge and drilling that itself. How did you drill it (what kind of bit) and how did you seal it, with just a normal bulkhead?

    Thanks!

Drilling is the easiest thing that you can do. It takes longer to set up than the actual drilling. I used a utility knife to cut the hole and a regular aquarium sealant to seal the bulkhead.

Thank you for your kind words, but I dont like doing videos b/c I get nervous and dont know what to say most of the times. I posted the video mostly for the visual aspect and not the audio.....lol
