Help me out here, Google is failing me. I'm probably not using the right words.

What kind of overflow box designs are there to go on the back of the tank, if I install a bulkhead near the top? I'm pretty sure I could design one, but I'd like to see what other folks have done.

You always have the HOB (hang on back) overflows as well if you dont want to drill.
Most overflows that include drilling, the drilling is in the bottom of the tank and the overflows are corner overflows.

Right, that's what I have now, an Eshopps. I'd like to get it out of the tank, but the bottom is tempered.

get a kit from glass-holes.com Its where I got mine and I love it, almost no noise, simple to install and comes with everything you need to do the job right.. Highly recommended. I bet the 700 gallon will be more than enough for your tank. its too much for my 30, but I felt like having a little extra security.

Hmm, wait. With what I was thinking, there'd be no surface skimming. Not good.

Those kits from glass-holes ... looks like I could just mod my Eshopps into one of those??

(i'm slightly confused as to what you want so sorry if this is irrelevant)

Even if it is the bottom that is drilled..the water still get skimmed off the top with a corner overflow

you could, and I looked into this, but with buying all the equipment (drill bits for both the glass and the eshopps, plumbing, fittings, and ease of use) it might be worth it.. just a suggestion, im no sales man, but I just like to pass on a good experience..
