i have a pre-drilled 75gal tank and the overflow compartment came with a acrylic cover. i placed the cover on the overflow, put in the sand, and i see a little bit of sand between the 1/4" gap between the glass of the overflow chamber and the acrylic.

im starting to see some of the food i threw in there to get things cycling building up between the 1/4" gap of glass and acrylic. not alot, but i just want to confirm that this is ok and normal :)

im not quite sure there is much i can do to prevent the gap without remaking my own overflow cover.

as usual, any input is appreciated!

    A pic would help...

Likely, what your describing is to become a weekly cleaning task you'll add to your regular maintenance... I have no cover over my overflow return...
