when my hand was in the tank today i noticed something. I have the return pump right next to a 150 GPH powerhead. When i compared the two, i could barely even feel the return. I want to boost the flow rate up A LOT higher and i was wondering how i do that. The overflow is rated 300 GPH. Is it the size of the tube for the return? the same amount of water is being taken out as well. Could the problem be that im downsizing it and making it too small? I had to GREATLY reduce the return pump flow which was greatly greatly suprizing. I attatched 2 clips to the return line and its been fine for about 2 weeks now... but i really want more water being circulated...

Your over flow should keep up with the pump. You should be able to take the clips off the return line.

Looks like you need a bigger hose on the overflow, then you should be able to run the return pump without the clips restricting the flow, and that will give you a faster flow rate.
