So will this work? If i empty the 75 into the 40 Breeder, then have the 40 breeder empty into the sump? Then have the return pump pump back into the 75?

the 75 overflow is 1100gph the 40 overflow is 700gph.

sicce 3.0 or maxi-jet 1800 (what one has more gph at 4ft?)return pump going to 75.

i dont see why this wouldnt work as long as there is not more then 700gph going into the DT right? that way i can use my other return pump in my 30 gal cube i just bought and save myself some money! :)

You nailed it. As long as the smaller overflow can handle more than what's being pumped into the DT, you should be all set. However, keep in mind if you put anything into the DT (such as your arms), you need to account for that in the 40 so the extra water will not overflow it.

well, if i put my arms in, wouldnt it just "overflow"? like its supposed to? i doubt at 4ft head loss either of the pumps i am using is doing even say more then 300gph. So with 700gph overflow i doubt it would happen.

But sweet deff gonna do this. time for the 108218547075 trip to the hardware store! lol

It will overflow, into the 40. The point is it is a large amount of water that the 75 can handle no problem, but if you are close to the limit on the 40 overflow with the normal flow, you could then overflow some. Just trying to think of the worst case scenarios for you :)

just make sure your overflow on the 40g-sump is a bit bigger than the 75g to 40g to have a little security is something clogs along the line
