To help get my nitrates down I took a trip to that fish place (best place on earth) and picked up a bag of purigen and chemipure elite. I have a aqueon quietflow 75 400gph and took out the last carbon and put the chemipure elite in there. I put the purigen in the last spot after the chemipure elite. I just want to know if this is too much for the filter to handle.

The filter itself? No as long as it's not clogging up the line

Your filter will tell you if it is too much as it would overflow and spill back into the tank bypassing the filtration media.

As for nitrates how high are you talking? Never used chemipure but used to use purigen. IMO waste of money as it is very expensive and did not stop nitrates in my FW setup

Another problem is your flow- it's way too high. Reactors typically run at 80 - 100gph for better contact time, allowing the media to absorb organics much more efficiently.

Chemi-Pure Elite is good stuff unless you have fishes with closed opercula. The PO4 scavenger used in it tends to irritate their gills. Just some 411 to keep in your pocket.
