Im new to the vast world of saltwater aquariums. I started out with fresh water, then worked my way up. Now, I have a 20 gal. nano FOWLR. I have been trying to decide on some livestock, but just can't get the best of both worlds in my choices... or at least that's what I think...

    Fish I am deciding on:

    *Ocellaris Clownfish
    *Yellow Clown Goby
    *Barnacle Blenny
    *Firefish
    *Tailspot Blenny

I don't think I can have all of these, or at least, with my nano. What would be my best line up for my setup and how should I do this and is there any other fish recomended?

    Welcome to 3reef.

I think if you remove one of the blennies you would be fine. I am not sure about compatibility with the blennies, that might be an issue, especially in a nano.

Four small fish and routine water changes seems ok but on the limit.

Thanks, but do you think the Firefish and the yellow clown goby would get along. After all, isn't a firefish a goby?

I have had fire fish and yellow clown gobies, no issues at all. Fire fish are consider Dartfish.

Fire fish are pretty passive and yellow clown gobies are small, tend to perch and at times remain hidden. I rarely saw mine in a 28 gallon tank.

Another good choice is the Royal Gramma.

I have a percula, ocellaris and yellow watchman in my 20H and they do fine. For a beginner I really recommend the clowns. I've had them since I first started salt water. I don't know about other people's experiences with the Clown goby but I had one before and it just wouldn't eat. It would just sit on the coral and starve until it died. I've also had 2 bangai cardinals but I just couldn't keep them alive. But nothing can kill them clown fish! =]

its very refreshing to see someone asking questions about stocking before their tank is overflowing with fish. good for you man!

and the info above is great, i believe you will be fantastic if you just drop one of the blennies. my first tank was a 20 gallon and i held a occ pair in there along with a lawnmower blenny. great little fish all of em.

Also, think twice before you get the Yellow Clown Goby they tend to perch on corals and sometimes irritates them. Just my 2 cents.;)

Alright thanks, but I don't have corals, or a reef setup, so that wouldn't be a problem right? Do you think the clown goby is worth it?
