already thinking about a bigger tank, lol, true addict..;D

depending on what your gonna keep, you could get away with just a hydor nano 425, thats if your keeping softies and lps...to house sps in your tank i would get around a 600gph powerhead..

thats what Im waiting for. Moving them is going to be a pain when I graduate. so I might just stick to the smaller ones. but hey I can't help myself I'll prolly end up moving a 300 tank that takes up my room when I move out. I'll make daddy help me :D

Yea that makes sense. I stir up my sand frequently so I think it would be alright. but I would see if you had DSB. Thats so cool your luck you have such a big tank. Im so stoked to be a home owner and married and can afford a giant tank, one in each room of the house :)

What temperature do you keep your tank at?

Lower the temperature, the more oxygen can get in the water but the difference from 75 - 80 isn't huge. Red sea labs has a great oxygen test kit. They are a little annoying to test, but honestly doing it once every few months isn't a bad idea. Doesn't sound like your issue is oxygen though.

If by closed top you mean glass top(s), you need to remove them. If you leave your tank sealed up, it prevents O2 from getting in and CO2 from getting out which effects PH among other things.
