oxygen levels

    do protein skimmers and trickle filters provide enough oxygen for tanks. i'm not having problems i was just wondering cause i dont hear that much about it.
    i would just like to hear opinons from some of you?

    I don't know anything about a trickle filter but I do have a Aqua C EV180. I've been told that this is more than sufficient for aereation.

    I'm glad you haven't been having any problems.

    A good skimmer and / or trickle filter should be sufficient. I run a skimmer with open top tank and sump and whenever I test my O2 levels, they are at the maximum.

    Perhaps the amount of livestock would play a part as well. There is an O2 test kit by salifert...for peace of mind ;D

    For a very large set up there are ozone injectors for dosing the air going into the skimmer and/or calcium reactors. I often wonder about the O2 level. My rig is the same as BLs in the sense that both my tank and sump are open topped. Of course the down side is I have to top-off about 2 gallons a day due to evaporation. I would think that my O2 is probably pretty high. :)
