Thanks guys, I do use a drip method and keep the level the same but If I do any water changes or lose power and the sump level changes by a half inch or so the skimmer needs to be readjusted after the level is restored that is my complaint. Red sea and I are talking now and if there is a fix I will share it. otherwise I am always under the stand and will live with it. I am redoing the lighting now and when that is done I am going to redo the filtration and plumbing stuff.
Sidenote Matt I too still use bioballs like yourself.

There are some skimmers out there that are self leveling. The Remoras come to mind.

(I don't use bioballs lately Phil, but I have defended them!  ;D I use to do maintenance on tanks in NYC in the early to mid nineties, many of them had wet/drys and many did not. But some of the ones with wet/drys with bioballs were still sweet. It's all possible, even with shortcomings perceived or real, as long as you still take care of it. The one's that sucked, generally were forgotten until they broke down and called me.)

UPDATE: The skimmer pumps still acts up and the manufactueres advice to replace it at my cost was rejected. I am adjusting it less with the replumbing job I did. I used a little rubber hose and an aold J tube to feed the skimmer and the rubber tubing and PVC for the return it stays in proper adjustment and gives me better skimate now. I would say the most improvement comes from the return staying straight and level before dumping into the sump.

Did you put the Kent Marine Venturi on it like others seem to do?

I had no trouble that would need the venturi unless I change the turbo pump and if i do that I will just change skimmers. It's one of those things i didn't spend the money I did for a skimmer body i could have built that and thats what I told red sea. I want the product i bought to work the way it is supposed to with out rebuilding the whole thing and the plumbing thing was my fault because my setup can't do it the manufacturers way. So I cleaned up my own design. Is it just me or does the Kent venturi look exactly like a Mazzei
    one?

I hear ya Phil, I just hate the DIY stuff if it's reallly not necessary. Fortunately the majority of the stuff I have purchased has worked as advertized. The one bummer is my CPR back PakII which doesn't work a lick, I use it just for circulation, and I refuse to go through the high jinx to DIY modify. It does hide my heaters rather well though
