paint and glue questions

what type of glue do you use on the pvc for your tank and is there any kind of paint i can use on stuff in the water. it will be dry long before i get any water in it

 

I use Oatey PVC glue in the gold can, and Oatey PVC primer in the purple can. Always use primer as this is the only way to ensure that your joint will hold. You can use the clear primer, but if you are careful, you won't get primer all over, and the use of the purple stuff will leave a nice reminder of what joints you have glued.

Krylon fusion spray paint is 100% reef safe once dried. That works great for painting PVC as it is a paint made for plastic.

 

i never herd of that glue is it not normal glue i work with drinking water pvc all the time purple primer and clear wet dry glue is this ok. also can you find that paint at like home depot. thanks for the help.

 

I used to work at a plumbing and boiler shop. Oatey glues are very common and probably the most common PVC glue used across the entire nation.

HD sells Oatey glues, and IIRC they sell the krylon fusion paint as well.

 

well for the glue i know that superglue that is cyanoacrylate(read the back) is safe. you can use this to glue corals to rock. as far as paint someone else will need to answer that.

 

lol yea i just called up my dad who i hellp with pluming all the time thats the stuff we use just never has labels he calls it somthing like hot stuff and purple primer i honestyl thought thats what it was called lol thanks for the hellp
