Just waiting for my sand to arrive in the mail, everythings prepared and now I'm wondering if its an ok idea to paint the back of my tank to give it depth. I've seen people on youtube do it but my only concern is it just going to flake off soon due to potential saltwater spray or be affected by lighting?

It is O.K. to paint the back of the tank. Spray paint holds up the best. A better option IMO is vinyl or even window tint (if you want black).

+1 I used home window tint from amazon, cheap, easy, and quick. plus if I want to change the color someday, it'll come off in about 10 seconds.

The tint method sounds great. Quick to apply and easy to replace. Thanks to both of you for the input.

The back of my tank was painted. I upgraded and was debating on painting the back of the new tank, but I didn't just so I can switch the co,or of the backround from blue to black when I feel like a change :p I'm actually using a navy blue pillowcase as a backround right now lol actually looks pretty cool hehe... But there is a reflection that I don't like.
