Either Tint or brushed on latex would be your best options for a setup tank.

Either way you are going to need room/space at the back to piant/tint.

i do have room and space in the back of the tank to paint. I dunno bout that adhesive background though. Thats kinda expensive. $5 per foot, so thats like at least $20 for a background.....

It does matter what side of the tint you use. One side has adhesive on it. The other side doesn't so I don't know how u could apply it the opposite way. And tint works just fine for the back of a tank.
My fav is black latex roll on paint. Super easy and can't really mess it up. U could apply that with a roller without problems. Just put something over the tank while your painting.

Sounds great. Thanks for the help everyone, I will likely just use latex (acrylic safe) roll on black paint.

i had the same problem dont have any room to paint maybe like 4 inches of space between the glass and wall so i just cover it up with live rock in the DT

do you need a whole lot of room to paint the back?

4" and a roller should work .. may need a handle on the roller for the center area.

Tape an opened up garbage bag to the wall behind the tank as an incase / oops factor..

I got foam roller that worked great. They also have long handles for the roller that would work great. The one I got was about 2ft long so it helps getting the whole area covered with limited space. It was about 7 bucks I think. Another thing is with the latex paint I had to put about 4 coats on to get it covered. Just wait 20 min or so between coats and u will be good to go. Just remember the prep is the most important part. Make sure that glass is as clean as u can get it. Should be a peice of cake. Good luck

so I have some left over Rust-Oleum "Painters Touch" Multi-purpose latex paint (Flat Black) that is sitting around from when I painted my stand. It says its great for wood/metals/and "more". Think this will be alright to on the back of the tank? I cant see anything on the back that says its not for acrylic use?
