Have you looked into using vinyl? Paint wise, buy anything that is used for glass and you should be fine. You will probably have to do a few coats.

If it says "glass" on the can it should work fine. I just went to walmart and got a cheap-o can of spray paint for my 10 gallon and it has held up great. Definitely needs a few coats though.

I used liquid acrylic enamel last time and brushed it on. It went on thicker and covered better than spray paints on previous tanks and cleaned up with water. Once its cured and hardened it does not matter what paint you used.

Anything out of a can is going to give you about the same results. The cheap 99 cent flat black at wal mart will serve the purpose. You could also pick up some black vinyl at an auto parts or craft store and use it as well.

I used a latex and just rolled it on using a small roller, make sure you put it on in thin even coats and avoid runs, if you get tired of it and want to change it later it literally peels right off the glass

Thanks for all the replies, i ended up getting a can of Krylon Fusion and put a good 4-6 coats on it, turned out great and paint suck without runs.
