You may want to have activated carbon (through a reactor or other means) running before you try this. If any VOC's do make their way into the tank (which they very likely will), this will help get rid of the toxins. I would be wary about adding any livestock for at least 2-4 weeks. Good luck though!

+1 to what nanareefer mentioned. I tried this gel on my 75 g and it worked perfectly. No air bubbles and clean up is simple. It only cost about $5-7 for the whole bottle and I didnt even use 3/4 of it. The background looks so much better than tape and makes it look like it was intended to.

I read somewhere that sea gel was just relabeled mineral oil, and after using it, I'd say it prob is. I had a prob, after about 3-4 months of it, my background started to drop a bit and wrinkle, which looked horrible. I then used dark blue window tent which just goes on with soapy water. Very easy to install and still looks great, even after i took the tank down.

But I would roll on paint if not that, less dangerous than spray painting. My new tank was rolled on, and looks great.

VOC's are volatile organic compounds. Sorry, I meant to say that this would be if you tried to use paint instead of the Sea Gel.

I would just put up a garbage bag on your wall. Tape that In place and use rustoleum paint with a sponge roller. Works great, will have to put a few heavy coats on it. Looks like crap when you start, but will end up great. I use it on all my tanks, few years later no issues.
