I want to paint the back of my fish tank so that no wires are showing and i dont have to deal with those crappy plastic backgrounds that u buy at your LFS. What paint should I use???

Any suggestion on color? black or blue?

    I Like both

    Is your tank filled yet?

I would not attempt it if your tank is up and running....

I painted the back of my tank with basic black indoor/outdoor Krylon spray paint (gloss black).

Make sure to do several coats. I did 2 thick coats and thought I had it solid, but once I got my halids on it I was able to see through it just a bit. Its not too bad though, Im the only one who notices it....

Krylon Fusion, Blue looks cool... black blends overflows well but absorbs light.

Painting it while full is fine, just turn off pumps and cover the top till done. I used a roller on the back of one of my tanks after it was set up. to lazy to drain and move/

I just painted my 33 long with krylon for plastic. seemed to adhere well and covered great.

Black or blue is your choice just make sure glass is clean before doing it.

What I did was turn the crappy background around, and it was solid black.
Problem solved. No muss no fuss. Just tape the tope edge good so water drips dont get in between the glass and background.

I know the back is black but the problem i face is it gets wrinkles or the tape will peel off it is just annoying especially if water gets between the glass and the plastic background... I used to have these problems on my old FW tank...what a PIA it was.. and can never cut it straight

I think i will see if i can get some krylon paint.. i will do blue since i know the black does absorb light
