2+ that and the fact that maroons are from a different family. i forget which family exactly but they arent the same as about 98% of all the other clowns.;D

Thanks guys I have decided to stay with the regular Percula Clowns as they are peaceful fish and wont hurt any of my other fish with their anemone host.

ORA has cross bred clowns before. I am sure it can be done. I've never had a problem pairing up maroons as long as one was very big and the other was very tiny. Gotta make sure the tiny one knows it has no chance and concedes to the larger one quickly to avoid a drawn out battle for territory.

I agree. My two clowns fought for a couple of months before the little guy decided he didn't have a chance Ha. Now they are a happy couple! I cant say the same for my clown gobies though...they seem to be having some marital problems. ;)

I had a percula clown for almost a year when I added a second clown when it was very small. They both really took to eack other from the start and the larger clown has been very protective of the smaller clown. They are inseparable.

now are you talking about purcula clowns or ocellaris clowns? saltwaterfish.com has ocellaris clowns labels as just purcula clowns. I have a pair of one ocellaris clown female, and a purcula clown male. It was easy to get them together because the two look alike. Ive heard of one person that paired an ocellaris and a marron, but he didnt try too. They did it on there own. Just be carfull with what you pair, and make sure one is less than half the size of the other if you want to get two different specices to pair.

I stand corrected. The larger one is deffinitly is an ocellaris clown and I thoght the smaller one was also when it was purchased. But, now as it has started to grow I'm not sure if its ocellaris or percula. The black stripes are much more bold that ocellaris and it's color bit more of a deep/darker orange. I hadn't given it much thought till last night. HMMM!!!

LOL unfortunately the best way to tell is to count the spines on the dorsal fin. Good luck with that while the fish is alive!

Percs and ocellaris can look very similar now in patterns.
