how do you pair maroon clownfish? i have a 2.5in maroon clownfish that is about 1.5 years old. she is a golden striped. can she be paired with a regular maroon clown? i cant get golden striped clowns any were. in fact she was a lucky mistake to begain with. she was my first fish from petco (never again) and she was listed as a maroon clownfish for 10$. the next day i wanted to buy 1 more to pair but they all died of ick. she didnt have any ick so thank god for that. but i cant find any info on wither or not golden stripes can be paired with normal maroons?

The gold stripes are color variations. They should pair up over time. Just buy a maroon clown that is smaller than your current clown.

Agreed with x-metal. Or one that is MUCH larger than your current clown.

they can be paired together all though many claim the goldstripes are less aggressive, So they are less likely to be the dominant ones.

Weather is a good or a bad thing I don't know. It may be good since its less likely to kill a smaller one, but may be bad if the little one decides it wants to be dominant and you get 2 females

I will say I have two juveniles pairing up now. They were bought as regular but the biggest(buy .5 inches) has become gold-striped over a few months.
They don't show much aggression toward each other but neither do they stay near each other continueally .

A book I have recommends getting one thats small enough to slip into some safe haven you create while keeping the bigger one out. you could make it out of eggcrate or maybe some kind of basket.

but yes get a smaller one.
