What if one of those happens to go out???? then your sol. i ALWAYS look at the extreme worst case scenario. its not like you can go in there and replace one led if you needed to. Reason why rapid kit would be my choice. if one led goes out, it would take no time to pop in a new one, with these youd have to get a whole new lighting section... just my 2 cents

Yeah that's very true. The reason I like these is because I'm not TOO DIY handy. I wish I was! Since there's no significant price difference between this and the rapidled retrofit I guess the only deciding factor is how hard it is to install the LEDs. I like the panoramas also because I can keep my stock lighting an run it alongside the LEDs if I want. Basically the panorama modules are small, so they won't take up the hole hood.

Like noted, the Ecoxotic Stunner strips are for accent lighting, while their Panorama pro modules are meant to be used as the main lighting, and are capable of growing sps. I believe they measured 240 par (with an apogee par meter) at the bottom of their 18" cube reef, at macna 2011.

2 should be good. It would be about $250, I think, for everything (strips, splitter, transformer).

That is the route I would take if you want to go simple, but nice.

Yeah I'm still leading towards the panorama pros. 2 of em. That way I can keep the stock lights in case of emergency. Plus there smaller and easier to install. The good thing is that I won't be doing this for a while. Who knows, maybe I'll have a job that actually pays SOMETHING and maybe someone will come up with another fixture!!! Haha but for now I think the panorama pros are my best bet.

A job would be a great idea. I don't have a job, so my tank has gone a year without coral. I got my first coral last month. Lights are to be here the end of this month/beginning of next. haha. I went with 3 par30s for my standard 29.

I'm not sure about there, but you need to be 15 to have a work permit in OH.

Yeah I've been wondering the same. I've been inquiring about a intern/volunteer position at one of my LFS. I'll probably have to wait till 15-16 to get a paying job. I'm thinking LEDs would be a good thing to ask for this September for my birthday.

do you see aquarists with massive led builds building extra led panels in case one goes out? no! this is a good precaution to take but seriously the chance of a god quality panorama module going out is very minimal and an extra module would be expensive. if one happens to go out, well.. you can cross that bridge when it comes.

oh and for the record i only have a panorama module over my 5 gallon tank, not even a pro module so its only 12 watts and it still grows sps. so definitely 2 pro modules at 20 watts each will do the trick for sps in your tank. even clams. or nems.
