Does anyone have a recommendation for a PAR meter that can be used underwater? I do not have much experience with these but would like to start.

    Thanks!

The apogee is a nice unit. It doesn't need as frequent of calibration, and costs about 2/3 less than the LiCor.

Most reef keepers use the Apogee. I have been using the apogee lately at home doing some PAR tests on lighting.

Does the base unit come with everything you need or do you need to purchase separate sensors? Is there anything else you need to take aquarium measurements?

You need the one that is 350, not the 300 dollar one for using in tank. The remote sensor one that is.

Other than that, you need to mount the sensor on a stick or something to be able to put it at certain depths int he tank.

FYI, I just bought an Apogee unit (MQ200) from aquariumspecialty.com, it was cheaper than through Apogee directly by a few dollars and has free shipping.

I believe I got the last one that they had in stock though so I'm not sure when they'll have more and I haven't received it yet so I can't vouch for it but $335 from them was the best price I could find.
