Ok so I'm looking a little into the future here. I will be upgrading my lighting in the next couple months probably. Rapid LED and BoostLED both make Par30 bulbs for pretty much the same cost. The Rapids come in 60 and 80 degree lenses while the Boot come in 40 and 60.

I have a 29 and a 10. Which light would be the best choice for each.

If anyone can give me info on how many bulbs I would need to place over each tank, how high/low would I have to mount them (lower is better), what bulb color combo is best and so on. Pics would be great if anyone has them.

I'm looking to have coral colors that really pop and fluoresce but I want to see my fish too.

    Thank you all in advance.

I have the boost leds and have 3 bulbs with 60 degree optics over my 20 gallon and love them and so do the corals.

How high do you have them mounted? What color combo did you go with? What types of corals do you have?

Sorry for all the ??? Just trying to see what my next paycheck gets spent on;D

    not at all ;D

3b 2w color combo I have zoas, mushroom, frogspawn, coraline everywhere, xenia that loves it.

there mounted about 8 inches above the tank and 3 spreads the light perfectly over the whole tank. so three on a 29 for sure and 2 on a ten for even light coverage but you could get away with one

I too have the Boost Leds. I love them! The owner of the company is a great guy and very friendly. That's a big plus in my books. I have the 3 blue 2 white, very pretty bulbs. I have 2 haning over my ten gallon, around 13 inches from the water surface. More than enough light for stony corals.

Thank you both. I think I'll go with Boost then. I've yet to hear anything negative about them.

Sorry for bringing this thread back to life, but is your 20gallon a 20long or a 20high? I just ordered 1 of the Par30 bulbs for my tank. I wanted to know if I'll need another one or two more. Thanks!
