I have a 12gallon aquapod. I also have 2 Par30 Led bulbs. I want to use them on this tank but yet I have a lot of animals and hair will be an issue with an open top. I was thinking about putting a lexan cover over the top. other than the gas exchange issue, would the lexan block out the benefits of the Leds? or do you think the coral would get enough light through it. I was also considering cutting the lexan to fit tight, but the cut a center oval out to allow the light to shine through and also provide air flow for gas exchange. would also keep most hair and the fish in.... sounds like I know what to do, but looking for opinions.

Depending on the thinkness of the lexan you will lose 7% to 15% efficiency of the lights.

thanks for the quick reply. I am gonna cut the center of the lexan out so the main light can flow through without loss. will post pics of the tank when it is all done.

why not use eggcrate or screening to cover the top?

well I thought eggcrate wouldnt do the job with the hair. and I didnt know if screen would prevent the good light from coming through or not. so here is what I did with some pics.

thanks the top is working out great but the thing that is bothering me is my brain coral. he was extended very nicely but the last day or so it hasn't extended himself at all. I am a little worried about it. The nitrate is a little high and I am working on getting that back down. I guess that could be the problem.
