I am currently in the market for some PAR38 bulbs for my 40 breeder build.

I would love to hear some experiences people here have?? In terms of what colors I should be looking at, wattage, coral growth, Ect.

    Thanks to all

For the price your going to spend on 3-4 of these to fully cover your tank. You could do a 24-36diy Cree build for about the same or a bit more and have better coverage or even get a reef breeders unit.

Unless you can find a full spectrum par38 Bulb, don't waste your time. If you want LEDs I agree with alex.

I have heard a lot of people saying that they are switching back to T5HO bulbs....should I even bother with LEDs??

Once i get a job (I'm 17 and in school) I'm saving up for a MH fixture for my biocube which currently has a par38. IMO save time and go with T5 or MH

Cree LEDs DIY fixture for the 40b. 24 LEDs on the 40. on the nano cube do probably 12-15 LEDs and be more than enough. I have Apollo reef LEDs and love them there bridglux, but a buddy is building me 2 cree fixture for a 40b and our 90 gal. Just can't beat full spectrum
