i really like the look of mushrooms and want to add some to my tank. With Power Compacts i know i can only keep certain corals! But i have read others tank threads and many regret adding mushrooms and GSP to their tanks. Do mushrooms really spread like wildfire very rapidly or are they managable. I am very dedicated to my tanks. What are your thoughts on mushrooms?

What size is your tank? I'd be apprehensive about putting them into mine.

People with high lighting and real dirty water will grow mushrooms and gsp's very quickly. Some people like this and they trade excess for different corals.

i have a 14gal and a 29gal. Will they adhere to the LR and then be impossible to remove?

No, mushrooms are easy to remove from LR IME. They do spread easily but I wouldn't say they are like wildfire and can threaten to tank over the tank. They're easily managed if you ask me. Give some a try!

they can be cut off with a sharp razor blade. Even easier though is an old rusty flat-headed screwdriver and hammer. Just chip a small sliver of rock off under the mushrooms foot. That way, it's easy to glue that sliver of rock to another rock.

when i eventually upgrade to a bigger tank, it will be shroomless.

they don't spread (IME) nearly as fast as GSP, but they spread more than I care for.

I have some mushrooms in my tank and I don't feel that they have "taken over" as some other people say. I think it is managable. I tend to have very clean water and pretty decent lighting so I don't think this is optimal conditions for them so my growth might be kind of slow, but they still add to the overall look of the tank.

I also have some GSP that I keep on a separate rock (away from my main structure) in order to curb the natural spreading tendency.
