True, but there is no reason to step the size down right at the outlet. You are still reducing flow by a good percentage.

I agree from an efficiency aspect. It's not optimal. I actually had bought 1.5" plumbing but an issue arose with lack of room for 1.5" fixtures. They took up a little bit more room dimensionally. When I'm saying that I need EVERY 1/16th inch of vertical space, that's no exaggeration. I literally need it because of how low that stand is.

Pretty much haven't touched the tank all week thanks to running (5k race this morning, 10k race next weekend), yard work and general lack of time. Tomorrow, I hope to have all the plumbing glued and get the sump ready for drilling/patching.

Got the pump feed glued and the new hole marked off on the sump. Got some of the piping painted (more to do) and I got the egg-crate cut to shape. Realized that my skimmer section of the sump is not deep enough and I will need to add some height to the baffle to raise the depth to 8.5" for the skimmer.

    Well where did they go?

Tank is coming along. I like the color coated plumbing. Looks great.

What I did most of yesterday:

Still have to paint the rest of the piping and add sight glasses. I need one more uniseal to do both barrels and I need to go back and get the proper sized barb fitting. I need 5/8 and I got 1/2. Figures. Also need to figure out the best place to mount the filters. Lot of progress made but plenty to keep me busy today.
