Pavestone sand

    Hi,
    does anyone know if pavestone sand is silica based or aragonite? it is what replaced the yardright sand at HD.

    Do an acid test. If it bubbles, it's calcious based. If not, silica based. The eaisest way is to simply look at the sand. If you see some perfectly round spheres in it, it's most likely aragonite. If the edges of the grains are rough/jagged, it's silica. Another easy test is where are you located? If passed the Mississippi, on the Cali side, it's probably silica based.

    will Drain0 work for an acid test...its the only thing i think i got around?

    Get some PH down (muratic acid) from the pool store. DrainO does have hydrochloric acid in it, but I don't think the foaming agent will allow you to tell to much. That junk seems to bubble just on its own ;)

    You can use just plain old white vinegar, That is what I used to test mine :D
