I am still trying to find the sweet spot that it likes. It is a real neat piece.

 

mine's under t5's and pc's in a 26(?)" deep tank, and I've got it between middle and high and it gets pretty good flow from the PH off the front glass. If I remember correctly, mine was a little finniky at first and took a little while before it really showed it's hairs. Yours looks good so far, might still be adjusting.

 

This is my Pavona. It does fluoresce green under by actinics, the photo is of the MH/actinics both on. Otherwise it's tannish, brown. So is it a brown or a green pavona? I hope it grows upwise, this seems more spreading right now.

 

I wanted to add another pic and some of my experience with my pavona.

At one point, mainly due to the rockwork being re-arranged because the stupid Turbo snail knocked it over, the coral looked very stressed and very thin. I thought that it was near death, and thought that I had to revive it in some way. Whether or not this was the right thought or whatever at the time doesn't really matter because it's history. Anyways, I chopped up some scallop very fine, into a slurry, loaded it into the baster and spot fed the coral. As you can see from the image they enjoyed that very much, you should be able to make out the mouth distending around the scallop bits. Since then I have continued to feed it meaty food and it has seemed to enjoy it very much. So I wanted to add to food list, very finely chopped meaty fare, though "dried brine baby shrimp" does cover that. And of course many thanks to Cuttingras for the very informative article!!

Thanks Chicago! I'm very glad it was useful to you and I'm very happy to hear yours is doing better. I guess I had more food in my water column since I never had to feed it?? I like those pics of it feeding, Very Cool. If you don't see the mouth like on a mushroom, it's kinda hard to imagine them eating whole foods. Thanks for posting your pics and experience. If you get enough people posting their experience, more will be learned about the Pavona. They are a really great coral to keep.

 

I think that's definitely the case as my tank is newly started. My experience with the pavona also nudged me towards reading up on coral feeding habits generally, I already mentioned the post by Inwall above.
