I have never seen a surgeonfish interested in eating acropora... But I guess there's a first for everything. Now he only eats the growth tips and nothing else.

So the fish is a really great inhabitant. Never had disease or issues, took to any food I put in the tank quickly, and just recently decided to acquire a taste for acro growth tips... Now, is there anything I can do to stop him or is this ultimately going to result in me moving him out? :(

either catch him or let your acros stay the same size.....is this a question???

get rid of him, and get something different.

Put Tabascos sauce on them. That's how you keep a horse from chewing on fences....

I have a pbt too, he is okay. My angels would nip I just fed more no they are too fat. But four times a day and nori...wow. Maybe nori in the morning then at night. And feed heavier those 4 times. Your tang has to be really hungry to eat acro.

It's sort of a small tank for a PBT. IME tangs can go stir crazy and become destructive in smaller tanks. Sort of hit or miss, but not sure if there is anything you can do besides remove it.

My Coral Beauty was eating my montipora. I noticed it was in his swimming path so I moved it close to the top of the tank - out of his way. That did the trick.
    For what it's worth...

Thats amazing that worked. My angels travel the entire tank looking for something to bother.
