I was doing some tank maintenance last night and contemplated how the tank was looking a bit yellow and the Actinic half of the 50/50's must lose spectrum more quickly. So I glanced way the Nano Customs site and got excited. Ordered one 420/456 dual combo UVL with the reflector. I've been waiting for months. Impressions once its in...

Pics up. Before I begin let me say that I'm a bit frustrated about the before and after pic situation. Both batteries on my D80 happen to be dead and I cannot find the charger. So the first pic was with the D80 no flash and with the room dark. Second pic had to be with the Powershot no flash with dark room because the D80 died. So the white balance could be a bit different on each.

    Without further delay:

Before - Two 50/50 bulbs without internal reflectors about 5 Months old. Note: Actinic spectrum on these was very dead.

After - One 5 month old 50/50 and one UVL-R Dual 420/456 nM.

I'm quite pleased with the results. At first I put the UVL in backwards so the reflector was facing toward me. Nice color but not a bunch of light. So I slapped myself after realizing the mistake and swapped it around. I can see why so many people like the more actinic look. As we all know, its difficult to get non SLR cameras don't capture the color popping capabilities of the Actinic very well.

BTW, the internal reflector appears to be a surface coating inside the bulb on one side.
